Tuition Information

The Eugene Waldorf School is pleased to utilize an indexed tuition system that supports an equitable and inclusive community. Consistent with Waldorf principles, the Eugene Waldorf School strives to make a Waldorf education accessible to any family who desires it while ensuring the financial sustainability of the school.

Like numerous Waldorf schools, the Eugene Waldorf School began as a grassroots initiative. Parents seeking a Waldorf education for their growing children brought a trained teacher to Eugene, and from there the school took root, opening its doors in 1980. Today, Eugene Waldorf School offers a parent-child class, two preschools, two kindergartens, and grades 1–8. EWS is one of nearly 2,000 Waldorf schools worldwide and part of the largest independent school movement in the world. Waldorf education is a healing education, and in today’s world it nurtures the capacities most needed now: empathy, resilience, and clear, independent thinking.

At the heart of Waldorf education is a simple truth: all children deserve an education that meets them with dignity and possibility. Holding to this ideal has always been our compass.

Indexed Tuition is a formula‑based system that places each family’s tuition within a set range using factors such as income, household size, local median income, and documented obligations.

This approach provides a consistent, transparent starting point for determining tuition and supports our commitment to clarity, fairness, and financial sustainability. Indexed Tuition allows us to serve a more diverse range of families, distribute tuition more fairly, and create long-term stability for our school. It also increases transparency and reduces confusion.

We’re excited to share our Indexed Tuition Range for the 2026–2027 school year, a result of months of research and a renewed commitment to making Waldorf education accessible to as many families as possible

Indexed Tuition Assistance (SSS)

The Eugene Waldorf School’s indexed tuition system is based on a family’s financial resources. Individual family determinations will be processed by an online financial application through SSS, a third-party assessment service. Families will be able to create an online account and complete the financial application for our school.

Parents may apply for indexed tuition via SSS (Partner Code is: 200618). Applications and all supporting documentation should be submitted as soon as possible. Parents will be notified of their indexed tuition determination by email.

The SSS application fee is $60 per family.

Families who choose to pay the maximum tuition amount are not required to complete the financial application via SSS.
