A certificate of immunization status form (CIS) is required by law for children in attendance at public and private schools, preschools, and child care facilities in Oregon. Families can choose to opt out of the required immunizations for either medical or nonmedical reasons. EWS is impartial about vaccination choices that families make for their students. A CIS form that contains immunization dates and/or a non medical or medical exemption form is needed on file for each student enrolled.

Guidelines for Parents and Guardians:
At the Eugene Waldorf School, we aim to create an environment with mindful, limited, and considerate device use. Face-to-face communication and interaction are integral parts of community building, and we encourage you to refrain from using your cell phone at transition times, such as pick up and drop off. We recognize that circumstances influence how and when visitors need to use their devices in the buildings, and we recommend that you follow our guidelines at your discretion and respect other peoples’ ability to do the same.
Guidelines for Students:
Student device use is restricted to after school hours. Parents are advised to have a conversation with their class teacher before allowing students to bring a cell phone or smartwatch to school. During school hours, cell phones must be silenced and put away. Occasionally, upper-grade students use digital devices for research projects with their teacher’s permission. Generally, cell phones and other devices may only be used after school and for communications in an emergency. Specific areas for device use are individual classrooms and the bus stop in the main parking lot. Devices may not be used for social media or other entertainment during school hours.
